Fascinating

One of the most interesting aspects of this game is the use of 4 tetrahedral “dice”. Unlike knucklebones that were used for gaming by the Romans and others, tetrahedrons are not easily found in nature and I think they would have had to been manufactured perhaps with some difficulty.

My first idea was that since in this game each die can score either 1 or 0 they were substitutes for coins but superior because they can be picked up with ease. Unfortunately this game predates the invention of coins in 600 BC.
